Dinner by the Thames River | Conclusion to Inexpensive London Outings

Stop 3 – Take-away dinner eaten next to the River Thames

After finishing our tour of the Sky Garden, we were ready for a light meal. There are a LOT of great options for inexpensive takeout (or take-away, as you’ll hear it called) throughout the city. One of our absolute favorites is Nando’s, a chain serving delicious chicken. There are a few locations over here in the states, but none near our home. This day, however, we decided to head to Abokado for some sushi.

We ended up getting the Omega Lite, Clean and Green, some Edamame and a couple of waters. We then took our little picnic and walked several blocks down to the river, when we found some chairs and a table and had a nice meal with some great scenery!

Total Cost for Stop 3: £20
(We didn’t save this receipt, but I know we paid with cash and it was less than £20 total as we received coins as change. To be conservative, though, I’ll estimate the full £20).

Total Cost for the day:
So, what did we spend for 2 lite picnic meals, 2 drinks, a museum, a sky garden, and some great scenery on the grounds of Greenwich as well as the River Thames? Well, here’s the summary:
Stop 1 – Greenwich: £25
Stop 2 – Sky Garden: £7
Stop 3 – Dinner by the River Thames: £20

Transportation: £13.6 (we stayed in zones 1 and 2, which has maximum charge of £6.80/per person per day)
Grand Total: £68 (or roughly $86)

I think we’d have trouble spending under $100 for 2 people including transportation, 2 meals, drinks, and two popular attractions in most main cities in the USA. But regardless of how expensive or inexpensive your city may be, I wanted to show you that you can, in fact, have a wonderful day for less than $100…even in an “expensive” city like London!
