Welcome to Toy Story Land

Toy Story Land debuted on June 30, 2018 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, one of the four Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks.  Here guests will “shrink” to the size of a toy and join their favorite characters in Andy’s backyard.  The new land features Slinky Dog Dash (a family rollercoaster), the Alien Swirling Saucers, the ever popular Toy Story Mania, along with all our favorite Toy Story characters and a new dining location, Woody’s Lunch Box.

If you are lucky enough to get a Fastpass for the new rides, Slinky Dog Dash or the Alien Swirling Saucers then you’ll be able to leisurely stroll around taking in all the sights.  For those that weren’t able to schedule a Fastpass, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is offering Extra Magic Hours for Disney Resort Guests every morning.  Be prepared to wake up early and beat some of the crowds if you want a chance to ride the new attractions without long wait times.  By 9am Slinky Dog Dash was at a posted 1 hour wait time (admittedly not bad) although we heard many people comment coming off the ride that they had waited much longer than that and were further up in line.  It’s something to think about if you have dining reservations, don’t jump in a line if it will put you too close to missing a reservation, posted times may not always be 100% accurate.

Toy Story is pretty fun to walk through, we caught the Green Army Men filing out for interactive games with the audience, saw Buzz, Woody and Jessie greeting guests and listened to the funny comments coming from Rex high atop Slinky Dog Dash.

Attention to detail isn’t lost in this area, just check out this table over at Woody’s Lunch Box made out of Babybel Cheese!

If your kids are rootin’ tootin’ hungry then I suggest you pull up a chair and check out the Quick Service Menu here.  Mobile ordering is also an option using the My Disney Experience App.  Families will find breakfast, lunch and dinner options at Woody’s Toy Box ranging from Raspberry Lunch Box Tarts ($3.99) , BBQ Brisket Melts ($12.99), Grilled Three Cheese Sandwiches ($8.99), S’more French Toast Sandwiches ($7.99) and more.

I like what they’ve done with the area, but it certainly does not encompass a large part of the park by any means, so it easily gets crowded.  There is of course a whole new slew of merchandise to go along with Toy Story Land, just check out the pictures of the Slinky Dog headbands or the Alien headbands.  I laughed to myself when I overheard a parent saying to her son that they had these toys when she was little except they played with them properly.

Another surprise is the fact that in a place like Florida there is a distinct lack of shelter from rain or sun…even for the dining area.  You can hop from umbrella to umbrella while waiting in line for Slinky Dog Dash, but you’ll be hard pressed to stay out of rain for long like that.  Overall the area will bring laughter and good memories to all the families visiting!

Blogger, Traveler, Wife, Runner….I’m known as many different things.  But I’m here to be your Travel Professional.  Ever since I was a little girl I had an interest in travel. I would collect the postcards books that my grandparents brought back to me from their travels and I kept them in a special box that I loved to pull out and flip through. As I traveled with my family I started collecting postcards on my own and pictures, maps, and other mementos of my travels.

Believe it or not, I still have those postcards and every once in awhile I’ll bring them out and flip through smiling at the memories they bring back. Although I might not collect postcards anymore I collect photos, stories and information on my travels. I love to soak up a destination, reveling in the local food life. I absolutely love sharing my travel stories, foodie moments and special encounters.
